This is for keeping up with all the info references that Charley Jones makes on the air.    So if you have the URL for one of the articles that Charley mentions post it!

Charley’s email at KRLD is jonesmail@cbs.com.

  • Lonestar  On November 15, 2010 at 6:43 pm

I guess the “new” KRLD website has been pulled and all links to the interviews with Mike have also been pulled or blocked. The CBS website barely even has Charley Jones listed.

I hope all is well with Jones, I been listening to him off and on since, I guess the mid 70s

    • ocgsa  On November 16, 2010 at 12:27 am

I know they are trying to update the web site… I’m not sure why they are trying to update ‘in place’… it doesn’t seem to be working well.

  • John  On December 13, 2010 at 10:52 am

I have ask several times as to why we are no longer able to download podcast of Charley Jones and Mike from east Texas. So far I’ve gotten no response. I hope this silence is not an indication that the downloads will no longer be available. Such did enjoy the on the go listening.

    • ocgsa  On December 13, 2010 at 5:46 pm

If what Charley has mentioned is true, CBS is trying to consolidate the web servers. I’m not sure who had done the previous website, but they have now moved most of it to WordPress. The podcasts are apparently being maintained elsewhere. It seems like who ever is handling the podcasts hasn’t quite figured it all out yet.

  • Lonestar  On December 14, 2010 at 6:51 pm

The podcasts are being maintained at a separate site and they are all CURRENT..
    they are here…http://www.ustream.tv/user/TexasOvernight/videos

    • ocgsa  On December 15, 2010 at 4:03 pm

Ustream.tv is more of an archive. As far as I know you can’t download them. Podcasts would imply that it could be downloaded and put on an iPod.

      • Lonestar  On December 15, 2010 at 5:50 pm

ocgsa… My bad, shows you how much a computer illiterate I am,I never even attempted to download a broadcast of Jones’. If I don’t hear it live,I just listen to them later in the week while web surfing.

  • John  On January 24, 2011 at 3:37 pm

I guess podcast days are over for East Texas Mike. They may be available again someday but at price.

    • ocgsa  On January 24, 2011 at 4:58 pm

Why do you say that? I haven’t had a chance to actually listen to the whole broadcast yet.

  • Lonestar  On January 24, 2011 at 7:23 pm

I’m more likely to suspect that KRLD or CBS realized Mike was too popular to allow the weekly broadcasts to be liostened to or downloaded free.

    • ocgsa  On January 31, 2011 at 10:21 pm

You’d think they would make it MORE available than less available. Some of Overnight is on Itunes but they don’t seem that recent.

      • Lonestar  On February 3, 2011 at 5:53 pm

I’m a ludite I guess, I don’t even have an ipod, pad or smart phone to download itunes

  • John  On March 8, 2011 at 3:03 pm

Just after this past Thanksgiving (2011), I called KRLD and asked to speak with the station manager. Had to leave a voicemail and was surprised when someone called me later that day. Sorry I don’t remember the gentleman’s name, but he was kind enough to hear my complaint about “Mike From East Texas” being available for podcast.

I also asked why they would change to a website that drove people away? He didn’t understand……so I pointed out that how every Monday I visited KRLD.com so I could download “Mike From East Texas” podcast. On occasion when doing so, I would search out some of the other KRLD podcast and give them a try. I explained that I work at night and can’t pick up KRLD here in Beaumont.

The gentleman still didn’t understand as the shows were available via the new website. I explained that I wasn’t going to take time away from my family to sit at the computer and listen via the website. However, I would enjoy the show via podcast while at work. He said the change was made to “keep listeners at the site and in front of their advertisers.” I pointed out that if I were to listen this way that I would surely “minimize” the page to my toolbar and listen while doing other things online……he agreed this is probably what most people do.

I know, I’m getting long winded. My last point was Mr. Jones ALWAYS had the Monday morning show up and ready for download during the day Monday……keeping it relevant for those unable to listen via the radio. At the time I talked with the station manager, it was Thursday and only the show from the week before was available. The very last thing – – – I checked iTunes and the only shows they had available was from May 2010.

The Station manager assured me the podcast would be available by the first of 2011……sadly they are not!

Sure do appreciate this website……just wish there was a way to download the show.

  • shar  On October 19, 2011 at 9:35 am

What I wouldn’t gived to have the entire program available on itunes EVERY night, the entire show…I’d even pay to subscribe. lol. Charley has the best show on the air.

    • ocgsa  On November 21, 2011 at 12:20 am

Well it’s not on iTunes but it is on Ustream.tv…. generally. I’m not sure what happens but it doesn’t always make it to Ustream.tv.

    Re: Charlie Jones
So, what happens when BHOcare costs someone a loved one who disagrees with the systems assessment of the value of their loved ones life?
Seems to me this could get downright Biblical in terms of the assessment of the value of life. And more than an eye for an eye.
The problem is the changing value placed on life. Accountants do not make good doctors.
    Long time listener and caller.

God bless Charlie. Our so called sceptic ism has a very real way of squashing our freedom of speech. There is a new book out entitled “The Silencing”. Give it a read and it was written by a liberal reporter. “Clinton Cash” is hard reading but the message is clear! Remember the biggest threat to our liberty is the uninformed voter.

  • Jeff Giacomel  On November 11, 2016 at 3:55 am

The reason that the US chose the .223 / 5.45×45 size round is because:
    1. Lightweight carry lots of ammo
    2. Wounds viciously. This requires 2 men to carry off the field.
    3. Cost of medical care.
    4. Good penetration.
    K.E. =1/2 mass * velocity **2

I’m over 500 miles from Dallas and still in TX. I was a late night Dallasite. Now there is no reason to tune in….good luck Mr. Jones

  • Kent Wooley  On May 31, 2017 at 12:53 am

Wow, May is my busy month, so I haven’t tuned in until now. I have to say that my heart his heavy having learned that Charlie Jones is no longer on KRLD. I understand business and hard decisions, but this was a real blow to the gut. From the surface, this looks like a cost-cutting measure, and I suspect that bean counters have had a great deal to do with this. Therefore, like many others, I will not be listening to KRLD in the future.

  • david anderson  On June 16, 2017 at 2:01 am

We do miss you Charlie, plz let us know where and what ur doin

  • dolanjones  On July 2, 2017 at 3:34 pm

After 25 years with CBS and the Texas State Network, Jones was laid off due to what CBS said was missing their budget by 12% and being forced to cut expenses. Greetings from Charley’s “Lovely and Talented” wife. We are currently creating a new future for Charley’s show and in negotiations for distribution. To stay in touch and be advised of updates, please join Jones’ Facebook page: Texas Overnight with Charley Jones. All ‘Friends’ will receive an invitation to join us at his new page when completed. We will offer multiple platforms from which you may connect, listen, learn and participate 24/7/365. Join us!

Ted… I don’t remember seeing a Twitter address but I’ll look around or maybe someone will post it.

    • Michael from Houston  On August 4, 2017 at 9:38 am

This is Michael from Houston, and (as Charley knows quite well), I don’t just avoid social media, I find it absolutely execrable. I shall go neither to Facebook nor to Twitter. Hopefully, you will keep posting info right here. I wonder why you’ve never considered trying to get on 700 KSEV in Houston. The demographic and profile of concerns and issues fits Charley”s modus operandi perfectly. I, for one, will do anything I can to encourage the management – namely, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick – to carry Charley’s new venture.

  • Joe  On August 4, 2017 at 1:28 pm

I wonder what the audience is now that Charley is gone. $ is based on listeners. Are there more or less?……I bet Charley will be invited back.
